The Niger Delta Renaissance Organisation has urged wives of state
governors in the country to emulate the peace efforts of Dame Patience
Jonathan Mama Peace. The group in a communiqué issued after its
National Convention which held in Port Harcourt the Rivers state
capital said if all the wives of the governors in the various states
complement the efforts of the first lady of the Federal republic of
Nigeria, the issue of insurgency and violence that has pervaded the
country will be a thing of the past.
The communiqué which was signed by the National Coordinator of the
group Comrade Nwokoma Messiah as well as the National Secretary Barr.
Kingsley Frank and Director of Mobilisation Ibiye Douglas said it is
imperative that all hands must be on deck to ensure that the threat of
insurgency is erased out of our polity.
The group which said this year’s Convention was intended to promote
women participation in politics highlighted the need for Nigerian
politicians to support female participation in politics. It decried
the situation whereby female politicians in the country were witch
hunted by their male counterparts. ‘’of particular interest to our
organization is the witch-hunt against the Minister of Petroleum
Dizeani Allison Madueke by members of the House of Representatives’’
the communiqué added.
The Niger Delta Renaissance Organisation also said it has endorsed
Mrs. Ngozi Juliet Olejeme the Chairperson of the National Insurance
Trust Fund for the 2015 governorship election in Delta State. It said
its decision to support her for governorship position come 2015 is due
to the fact that she has all the qualities needed to govern the state
known as the Big Heart state.
It said it has directed its Delta State Chapter to set up structures
across all the Wards and Local Governments in the state to ensure that
Delta records the first female governor in the state and the Niger
Delta region.
While commending security forces in the country for their commitment
to the fight against terrorism in the country, the group said it will
be launching the #Kickoutterrorism campaign aimed at supporting the
federal government’s efforts in combating the scourge. It urged
various stakeholders in the country irrespective of political
affiliations to support the campaign stressing that such support will
help bring about peace and development to the country especially as it
heads to the 2015 elections.

Abu Ibrahim that the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki as well as the Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara and others in the fold of the All Progressives Congress APC that are still masquerading in the party should resign their membership of the party. This call which also implies that they resign their positions as leaders of the various arms of the National Assembly is yet to be complied with by those concerned as at the time of writing this piece Whatever their reasons for still staying put in the party may be, the fact of the matter is that their continued stay in the party has become a sore which must be extricated from the body.  As I watched through the proceedings of the defections on national television, I wept for the country for producing such leaders that lack morality despite all the party has given them politically which they ordin...
