Felix Obuah And The Politics Of Agwu So Mba by Comrade Nwokoma Messiah

Since the landmark High Court judgment of April 16th 2013 that brought in Bro. Felix Amaechi Obuah as the substantive Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Rivers State, The State chapter of the party has experienced a strong tonic that has pushed its public appeal to greater heights threby endearing it to the generality of Rivers people who have been disillusioned by the fiendish politics of Rotimi Amaechi.
In retrospect, Rivers people are left wondering that if not for the fact that the Felix Obuah led administration of the party came into place prior to the exposure of governor Amaech Rotimi as an enemy of the collective interest of the Rivers people and the Niger Delta in general, the loquacious governor would have done a greater harm to the cause of Niger Deltans thereby placing us in servitude to our northern neighbours who wish to see us as second class citizens in a country where we account for a greater part of revenue accruing to the country. Thank God that such an experience has been averted.
As a leader I have come to know for a greater part of my life, I remain very motivated by the rise of the man many people opt to call Go Round because if despite the challenges and intimidations he has faced and yet he has remained steadfast to his vision, achieving all that God has given him then Nigerians must draw a lot of positives from his life and also emulate him.
From a very humble background, the Mba na baragu I of Orashi Kingdom has risen to the enviable position of Chairman of the Rivers state chapter of the largest political party in Africa not through opportunism, betrayal of his people, backbiting or ass licking. Rather he has displayed a very strong tenacity for loyalty to the cause of his people through the principle of go roundism and brevity. He has challenged the fascist elements within his Ogba ethnic group as well as the one represented by Rotimi Amaechi and fought them to standstill despite the enormous wealth and power at their disposal.
Like a Lion which abhors challenge, Bro Obuah has fought against forces of retrogression against his people. This attitude has most times pitched him against so called leaders of his people in Orashi region whose major claim to leadership has been embedded in pauperising their followers. Go round stands tall above them and has selflessly withstood their impish antics.

The most recent fight of this great personality that has walked the face of this earth is the way and manner in which he and people like Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike a federal minister in President Jonathan’s Transformational government wrested the party structure from the likes of Rotimi Amaechi and Chief Godspower Ake.
Knowing full well the political culture of our people over the years, it takes a very courageous personality to do what the ilk’s of Felix Obuah and co are doing for the first President of Niger Delta extraction whose administration has been sabotaged by a man that has benefitted from the Peoples Democratic Party and the judiciary which he today desecrates. The courage of Mr. Go Round has liberated the people of Rivers state and also given them belief that evil administrations that mean nothing for the people they govern, can be fought to stand still if the will of committed politicians is asserted.
As a Niger Delta man, I feel completely at a loss as to why governor Rotimi Amaechi and his band of reprobates would engage in such folly but as a student of bible history, I remain comforted by the fact that even our Lord and savior Jesus Christ also suffered such pains from betrayers. It is a known fact that governor Amaechi is not even recognized as a factor in the party he flaunts so much. But his continuous support has stemmed out of a face saving effort aimed at trying not to be seen as a source of ridicule by all. It is a case of dying in ones foolish pride.
It takes men of character who understands the essence of political power to checkmate such a governor like Rotimi Amaechi. Go Round falls under such characters and must be commended by all for who he is and what he stands for.
As we look towards the year 2015 when some bands of power hungry people under a very funny acronym  are attempting to give the PDP a run for their  money, we as ardent believers in the principle of good governance believes that our great state and country will be liberated from the shackles of retrogressive politicians masquerading as progressives.
The Rivers governor was quoted as saying that he has no house of his own in the village he was born and for that he is not corrupt as if that is the criteria for not being corrupt but what he fails to understand is that any man that cannot boast of doing something that his brothers and sisters at home can look back to say such a man did live cannot boast of being called a progressive. He is at best a retrogressive who should be stoned by his people. People like G U Ake and his boys that have been antagonizing Bro Felix Obuah cannot boast of what he has done for his community, state and country at large. This is a man that has built a school to give the best education for his people. He also has invested in a very grand resort center to help develop the tourism potentials of his people. This does not also include his investment in Sports through his Football Club Go Round Fc which has helped developed interest for footballand sports in his community bringing even the highly rated Confederations of African Football club matches to the area. It is also known that within his short time in office as the Chairman of the state chapter of PDP he has attracted a major federal educational institute to his area. If such character does not qualify as a real leader of the people despite his servant posturing, then I wonder what people like Chief G U Ake, Sen. Wilson Ake, Kachi Nwokacha, Gift Nwokocha and co would be described. I do believe that posterity will surely not describe them in the best of adjectives.

DEFECTIONS: Why Saraki, Dogara Others Must Heed Sen. Ibrahim's Call by Comrade Nwokoma Ndubuisi M.

The gale of defections in the National Assembly last week was followed by an advice from no one else than Sen. Abu Ibrahim that the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki as well as the Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara and others in the fold of the All Progressives Congress APC that are still masquerading in the party should resign their membership of the party. This call which also implies that they resign their positions as leaders of the various arms of the National Assembly is yet to be complied with by those concerned as at the time of writing this piece Whatever their reasons for still staying put in the party may be, the fact of the matter is that their continued stay in the party has become a sore which must be extricated from the body.  As I watched through the proceedings of the defections on national television, I wept for the country for producing such leaders that lack morality despite all the party has given them politically which they ordin...

Rivers Governmnet, PDP Disagree Over $280 million Looan

The Rivers State Government and the Peoples Democratic Party in the state are currently at loggerheads over the request by the state Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, for a $280m loan for water and sanitation projects. While the state PDP said that the latest request for loan by the state government was unnecessary due to the resources accruing to the state through the federal allocation and internally generated revenue, the government said it was not true that the funds were to be used for 2015 elections. The state House of Assembly had on Monday endorsed Amaechi’s request for loan for water supply and sanitation projects. But the state PDP, in a statement, signed by the Special Adviser to its Chairman, Mr. Jerry Needam, said the request for loan was aimed at punishing the governor’s successor in 2015. The party called on members of the House of Assembly, the Federal Ministry of Finance, the African Development Bank and the World Bank not to honour the loan re...

2019: Northern youths kick as Northwest APC lawmakers endorse Buhari

The leadership of the Arewa Youth Forum on Monday said President Muhammadu Buhari does not deserve any endorsement for the 2019 presidency. Reacting to a purported endorsement by some serving All Progressives Congress’s lawmakers from the Northwest in Kaduna, the AYF’s National President, Alhaji Gambo Gujungu, said Buhari was not fit to return as president in 2019. The AYF argued that with the killing spree all over the country, especially in the North, Buhari should serve his mandatory four years term and quit the stage for another Northerner. Gujungu noted that one sour point about President Buhari’s 2019 ambition was his claim that the killings across the country were being carried out by “desperate politicians”, yet he had not arrested even a single suspect. The AYF president, therefore, said Nigerians should blame the president for the attacks on innocent citizens. The AYF boss who spoke to our correspondent on phone on Monday, said the President’s cl...
