Organisation has endorsed the father of Nigerian born international footballer
Carlton Cole Okirie for House of Representatives.
Chief Chukwuma Okirie who was
endorsed by the group after its emergency caucus meeting has practiced as a
lawyer in England before retraining back to the country some years ago.
The organization through its
Director of Press Comrade Adams Davidson said Chief Okirie who had served as
the Community Relations Manager of ABB Soimi in the late 90s and early 2000
helped brought development to the people of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area
then. The statement also said the group has directed its ward chapters all over
the Constituency to ensure that Chief Chukwuma Okirie is nominated by his party
to represent the people at the National Assembly come 2015.
The group also called on
political leaders in the Federal Constituency to ensure that round pegs are put
in round holes as far as the coming elections is concerned. It decried the lack
of better representation of the area at the National Assembly in the past eight
years stressing that with the enormous resources in the area, the federal
constituency has no reason to be as backward as it is today.
The group also reiterated its
support for President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to contest the 2015 Presidential
elections describing their support as non negotiable. “President Jonathan has
shown that he has all it takes to reposition the country in the next four
years. This is why we are not relenting in our support to bring him back to Aso
Rock come 2015” the statement added.
