OPINION: 2019: Clarion Call On My Humble Comrade Prince Abba Bukar Abba Masta

By Dr. Abdulwahab Ahmed Mala

Soon the process that will lead to the next election will commence across the country and trust the Nigerian politicians, a lot of people will be vying for positions across board and the ears of the people will be filled with  lots of promises by sincere and insincere politicians.

One thing I trust is that this time around, the election will not be like the average Nigerian election where characters that have not impacted on the people in any way will come an deceive the people. Rather, we will be calling on people that have quality and have touched the lives of the people to contest. It is on this premise that after consultations with like minds, I feel proud to call on my childhood friend who turns like a  brother, a humble prince and comrade in the struggle to make the society especially our beloved Bama area a place to be proud of.

I am not the average politician who believes in resorting to sycophancy in order to massage the ego of others. No and please I will apologise if in any way I may sound political or like a politician while trying to drive home my point in urging Comrade Prince Abba Bukar Abba Masta to contest for the position of Member of the Borno State House of Assembly come 2019.

I remember two years ago during the Sallah celebrations, I had come to visit my friend and wish him well but alas, I was surprised to be told that he was nowhere to be found in the comfort of his home because he was at one of the IDP camps where he had gone to felicitate with the IDPs and had refused to return home to his comfort due to the pathetic plight he found our displaced brothers and sisters from Bama.

This is the kind of personality that my prince has built as a person in his young age. He is a person who easily exudes his soft side when confronted with issues that affect others. I know of others who usually do more than the little my comrade did but with all due respect to their efforts also, my comrade prince with the little resources at his disposal has shown himself to be a man who holds human beings in general and our people especially at heart.

Like I had earlier pleaded, please if I am sounding political in eulogising and calling on my beloved patriot, please forgive me because there is no other way I can do it but the truth must be told no matter how anybody may want to view it. Our modern politicians have to embrace the principle that will endear them to the people and act the talk by doing the right things whenever they see the opportunity to do so.

Another issue is the lack of principles in politicians which I see is not lacking where my Comrade prince is. I take for example his avid support for our President Muhammad Buhari which has transcended times and years. When I look back at the years we were supporting our President during the elections of the past and the way he has continued to stand behind the President I so much appreciate his zeal wish our youths can remain steadfast as such. we need good leaders like our dear president but we cannot get good leaders without having followers who stand firm with them during thick and thin the way our Comrade Prince has consistently stood behind the president. I praise Allah that the President is not failing in his promises to the people.

My dear people of Bama, I don't want to bore you with too much rhetoric but as we march towards 2018 which is the year of campaigns, I implore you all not to relent in searching for the best candidate that can bring about positive change to Bama Central Constituency. We can show we love Bama by giving it the best and qualitative representative it needs by giving our support and urging our very own brother, friend and a humble son Comrade Prince Abba Bukar Abba Masta to boldly throw his hat into the ring and contest the position of Member representing Bama Central in the Borno State House of Assembly. He will be surprised at the support he will get if he eventually heeds this honest advice of mine.

DEFECTIONS: Why Saraki, Dogara Others Must Heed Sen. Ibrahim's Call by Comrade Nwokoma Ndubuisi M.

The gale of defections in the National Assembly last week was followed by an advice from no one else than Sen. Abu Ibrahim that the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki as well as the Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara and others in the fold of the All Progressives Congress APC that are still masquerading in the party should resign their membership of the party. This call which also implies that they resign their positions as leaders of the various arms of the National Assembly is yet to be complied with by those concerned as at the time of writing this piece Whatever their reasons for still staying put in the party may be, the fact of the matter is that their continued stay in the party has become a sore which must be extricated from the body.  As I watched through the proceedings of the defections on national television, I wept for the country for producing such leaders that lack morality despite all the party has given them politically which they ordin...

Rivers Governmnet, PDP Disagree Over $280 million Looan

The Rivers State Government and the Peoples Democratic Party in the state are currently at loggerheads over the request by the state Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, for a $280m loan for water and sanitation projects. While the state PDP said that the latest request for loan by the state government was unnecessary due to the resources accruing to the state through the federal allocation and internally generated revenue, the government said it was not true that the funds were to be used for 2015 elections. The state House of Assembly had on Monday endorsed Amaechi’s request for loan for water supply and sanitation projects. But the state PDP, in a statement, signed by the Special Adviser to its Chairman, Mr. Jerry Needam, said the request for loan was aimed at punishing the governor’s successor in 2015. The party called on members of the House of Assembly, the Federal Ministry of Finance, the African Development Bank and the World Bank not to honour the loan re...

2019: Northern youths kick as Northwest APC lawmakers endorse Buhari

The leadership of the Arewa Youth Forum on Monday said President Muhammadu Buhari does not deserve any endorsement for the 2019 presidency. Reacting to a purported endorsement by some serving All Progressives Congress’s lawmakers from the Northwest in Kaduna, the AYF’s National President, Alhaji Gambo Gujungu, said Buhari was not fit to return as president in 2019. The AYF argued that with the killing spree all over the country, especially in the North, Buhari should serve his mandatory four years term and quit the stage for another Northerner. Gujungu noted that one sour point about President Buhari’s 2019 ambition was his claim that the killings across the country were being carried out by “desperate politicians”, yet he had not arrested even a single suspect. The AYF president, therefore, said Nigerians should blame the president for the attacks on innocent citizens. The AYF boss who spoke to our correspondent on phone on Monday, said the President’s cl...
