Open Letter To His Excellency Rotimi Amaechi

My dear indefatigable leader of our great party, I wish to use this opportunity to write you this missive because the way I see you and your efforts to position our party, I believe you are doing something good that deserves strong commendation.

Despite the negative propaganda against your humble self, you have shown that you are a leader that cannot be moved by the antics of feeble minded politicians who cannot dwell on issues that are germane to public interest rather, are preoccupied in efforts aimed at  twisting the minds of the people to achieving their inordinate whims and caprices.

Your Excellency, I have been so impressed seeing you interact with Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs a great, patriotic and committed Rivers man who has the interest of the people at heart. The cooperation among the two of you has given Rivers people a sense of comfort which has continued to draw followership to our great party every passing day.

As I write this piece, there is a strong clamour that the riverine part of the state produces the next governor of the state. I believe you share this sentiment also because your body language and actions while as governor and today as Honourable Minister has continued to show Rivers people that you want justice for the riverine people who have been so marginalised in that position.

I am a Rivers man from the upland part of the state but I strongly believe that this is the time for the riverine people to govern Rivers state and since that time has come, it is important that we identify the best candidate possible that should be given the support that is required to grab power from the inefficient governor of the state whose ineptitude has become legendary.

Sir the best candidate which the people of the state needs today is no other person than Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs. If the party will win the next governorship election, this Kalabari born lawyer, administrator and philanthropist has the charisma, quality and sagacity that can guarantee the All Progressives Congress APC victory come 2019.

I was one of the persons that worked for his gubernatorial aspiration in the run up to the 2015 elections in the state ad can attest just like majority of us that were with him of his zeal to develop the state.

Excellency Sir, Rivers people are aware and cannot easily forget the way you helped in transforming the state during your days as governor. Please we need somebody that can replicate that same zeal and commitment to developing our dear state and there is no other person that Rivers people can trust to do that today other than Chief Barr. Dumo Lulu Briggs.

I am aware that the APC in the state is not short of sound personalities that can make a difference any day but we need the best possible option and that option lies in Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs. We need a strong character like him to wrest power from Nyesom Wike while also creating the kind of legacy which the likes of your humble self and Alfred Diette Spiff left as governors of our great state.

It is unfortunate that our state has fallen into the hands of jackals that are running the state today but please let's do all we can to take our destiny into our hands by doing the needful.

Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs has the support of a broad range of Rivers people which can give our party a strong edge in the coming elections this is not to talk about the fact that his friendship cuts across all facets of the state. People can easily attest to this fact.

Just like our dear President Muhammadu Buhari who is doing a great job today after contesting for the presidency for three times, Dumo will also bring his experience to bear after contesting for governorship for the same number of times. He is the most prepared and tested if we objectively assess him.

As you read this, please bear in mind that Rivers people are truly happy with you and your commitment to making this state great. You can reaffirm such commitment by supporting Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs to clinch the governorship nomination of our party. This is the only way we can give the corrupt PDP a run for their money.
God bless your efforts sir.

Yours truly

DEFECTIONS: Why Saraki, Dogara Others Must Heed Sen. Ibrahim's Call by Comrade Nwokoma Ndubuisi M.

The gale of defections in the National Assembly last week was followed by an advice from no one else than Sen. Abu Ibrahim that the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki as well as the Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara and others in the fold of the All Progressives Congress APC that are still masquerading in the party should resign their membership of the party. This call which also implies that they resign their positions as leaders of the various arms of the National Assembly is yet to be complied with by those concerned as at the time of writing this piece Whatever their reasons for still staying put in the party may be, the fact of the matter is that their continued stay in the party has become a sore which must be extricated from the body.  As I watched through the proceedings of the defections on national television, I wept for the country for producing such leaders that lack morality despite all the party has given them politically which they ordin...

Rivers Governmnet, PDP Disagree Over $280 million Looan

The Rivers State Government and the Peoples Democratic Party in the state are currently at loggerheads over the request by the state Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, for a $280m loan for water and sanitation projects. While the state PDP said that the latest request for loan by the state government was unnecessary due to the resources accruing to the state through the federal allocation and internally generated revenue, the government said it was not true that the funds were to be used for 2015 elections. The state House of Assembly had on Monday endorsed Amaechi’s request for loan for water supply and sanitation projects. But the state PDP, in a statement, signed by the Special Adviser to its Chairman, Mr. Jerry Needam, said the request for loan was aimed at punishing the governor’s successor in 2015. The party called on members of the House of Assembly, the Federal Ministry of Finance, the African Development Bank and the World Bank not to honour the loan re...

2019: Northern youths kick as Northwest APC lawmakers endorse Buhari

The leadership of the Arewa Youth Forum on Monday said President Muhammadu Buhari does not deserve any endorsement for the 2019 presidency. Reacting to a purported endorsement by some serving All Progressives Congress’s lawmakers from the Northwest in Kaduna, the AYF’s National President, Alhaji Gambo Gujungu, said Buhari was not fit to return as president in 2019. The AYF argued that with the killing spree all over the country, especially in the North, Buhari should serve his mandatory four years term and quit the stage for another Northerner. Gujungu noted that one sour point about President Buhari’s 2019 ambition was his claim that the killings across the country were being carried out by “desperate politicians”, yet he had not arrested even a single suspect. The AYF president, therefore, said Nigerians should blame the president for the attacks on innocent citizens. The AYF boss who spoke to our correspondent on phone on Monday, said the President’s cl...
