The Niger Delta Renaissance Organisation says it will be canvassing for the Speakership position for the region in the next Legislature of the lower House.
The group said having lost the Presidency the incoming ruling party should not leave the South South without any position in the scheme of things.
It says it will be wrong for only the north and the south west to share the political spoils after the victory of the All Progressive Congress APC over the Peoples Democratic Party PDP which won most seats in the South South and the South East region.
The group says it will be unfair to search for speakership position outside the region bearing in mind the fact that the All Progressive Congress APC also won seats in the South South region.
The group says it believes Gen. Muhammadu Buhari  and the party heirachy will not look the other way while the South South region is schemed out of the race for Speakership. “Considering the fact that the south south region also gave votes to the President elect and also won some seats in the region even at the National Assembly, it will be a grave injustice not to recognize the region for the Speakership position”
It said its stance is not based on coercion but an appeal to the incoming representatives and the party to do the needful by ensuring that the region is carried along.
“We are not using force but are appealing that the incoming reps and the party consider our stance and carry along all regions of the country in sharing positions in the country especially at the National Assembly”
The group said it will be backing Hon.Peter Akpatason for the speakership position because he qualifies for it. “We are backing the amiable Hon.Peter Akpatason for the speakership position because he has all it takes to be the Speaker. He is a two term member, has all the leadership qualities and has the experience to lead the House. We must also understand that he has also been the Chairman of NUPENG” the group posited.

Abu Ibrahim that the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki as well as the Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara and others in the fold of the All Progressives Congress APC that are still masquerading in the party should resign their membership of the party.
