Frontline Peoples Democratic
Party PDP stalwart in Rivers State Chief Barrister Dumo Lulu Briggs has
restated his commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers state. Chief Lulu
Briggs contested the Rivers state governorship election under the PDP which eventually
went to Chief Nyesom Wike a former federal minister.
Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs made this
pronouncement after a stakeholders meeting he held with members of his campaign
organisation, coordinators of the various LGAs as well as other stakeholders involved
in his campaign train.
The meeting which witnessed a
large turnout of his supporters saw clarion calls by most of the people that
made speech urging him not to relent in his support for the party especially
now that they need him most. Speakers
that contributed at the parley said it was imperative that he does not abandon
the party at this time of need. Speaker after speaker while praising his
leadership qualities said Dumo Lulu Briggs will be setting a good example to
his followers by sticking to the party despite its failure to win the
Presidential election of March 28th.
Reacting to the position of
majority of those who spoke at the meeting, Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs said it was
not in his character to leave a man when he is down. He said the fact that
President Jonathan did not win the Presidential election does not mean that
Rivers people should jump ship. He said it was imperative that Rivers people
express their love for Mr. President by sticking to the Peoples Democratic
Party and ensuring that it emerges victorious come April 11th 2015.
Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs said the
events that occurred during the days of the primaries should be a lesson for
all followers of the party stressing that all what led to the injustice during
the primaries can best be tackled under the PDP and not the APC. “if I was
thinking about my personal position I would have been in the APC considering
the pressures I have received and the perceived injustice I got but been there wouldn’t
have given me the opportunity to bring about the change my supporters need…
this is not the basis of my being their leader” he posited.
He advised his followers to
remain steadfast stating that “ Our dream to be in Government House is not dead but alive”
