The Niger Delta Renaissance Organisation has condemned the
statement purportedly accredited to Alhaji Asari Dokubo that the “boys” may
likely head to the creeks following the victory of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari over
President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan an Ijaw man at the Presidential polls which
held March 28th 2015.
The group via a statement signed by its National Director of
Publicity Comrade Benjamin Etuk said it was disheartening that rabble rousers
will want to put cog to the wheel of peace and progress of our dear country as
expressed through President Goodluck Jonathan’s acceptance of the released
results.
The group said Asari Dokubo and his fellow militants caused
more harm for Jonathan during the cause of the campaigns when their lack of
understanding of the intrigues of Nigerian politics pushed them into making
unguided remarks that jeopardized President Jonathan’s aspiration. The group
said “while we was busy reaching out to friendly groups in the North and other
areas, Asari Dokubo and co were busy fanning the ambers of war. This attitude
was one of the reasons why the north said it will stick to its own and damn any
consequence. The reaction to that is evident”
The Niger Delta Renaissance Organisation said Nigeria must
move forward in peace despite the events of March 28th. “as a group, we must confess that we were
shocked by the announcement of results but since our father has accepted the
result and has urged peace from his supporters, we will be most foolish to
start drumming the songs of war. This must be condemned by all Nigerians.” The statement
said.
The group also warned the incoming President to try and build
the country along intellectualism rather than patronizing insurgents or
militants. It said this will encourage Nigerians to build their capacity and
have belief in themselves.
