The Niger Delta Renaissance Organisation NDRO has commended
the decision of Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs to remain with the Peoples Democratic
Party PDP despite the events of March 28th. The group in a press statement
while reacting to news of the decision said the stance of the PDP stalwart is encouraging
and goes a long way to show his political maturity.
The press statement which was signed by its National
Coordinator Comrade Nwokoma Messiah said by such stance, all support groups
that have been with Dumo Lulu Briggs can now mobilize its members to vote en
masse for the PDP in the coming April 11th Governorship and House of
Assembly elections.
The Niger Delta Renaissance Organisation said it was
disheartened by the fact that sons of the Niger Delta worked against the
reemergence of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as president and said it will
be wrong for people of the state to vote such betrayers of the collective will
of our people into power. The group condemned the stance of the All Progressive
Congress APC in the state in their campaigns which urged Rivers people to vote
for the party at the center. The group said such call was deceitful stressing that”
it was this same people who took our state to an opposition party when our
brother was in charge at the affairs of the country that now wants us to go
back to the mainstream after betraying our brother out of power…such call as
much as it is deceitful, is also the highest display of mischief” it said.
The group while congratulating General Buhari (rtd) over his
victory at the polls, said Rivers state will be better off even without a member
of his party at the helm of affairs in the state.
The Niger Delta Renaissance Organisation urged all Rivers
people to ensure the victory of the party in the state by voting for the PDP.
It said this call was not only to Rivers people alone but to all Niger Delta
people as well as South Easterners who have been betrayed by the pattern of
votes cast. “We cannot get our due in the Nigerian political conflagration by
taking the option of band wagonning to the APC which just secured victory at
the Presidential polls of March 28th. We can only get our fair share
by sticking to the PDP despite all odds” the statement added.
