Sen. Wilson Ake has described the
emergence of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as a victory for democracy in Nigeria.
Sen. Ake represented Rivers West senatorial District at the Red Chambers of the
National Assembly between 2007 to 2015 and was the Chairman of the Senate
Committee on Labour and Productivity.
Sen. Ake said the massive support
the former governor of Edo state received by the generality of party faithful
has helped unite the party the more making it easier for the people of Nigeria
to accept the party because of what they expect from him having distinguished
himself in various positions he has found himself before now.
Sen. Ake urged the new party
Chairman to ensure that he use his position to address the myriad of issues affecting
the party especially in Rivers state which has been engulfed by impunity and
disregard for rule of law. While describing the political crisis rocking the
party in Rivers state as a solvable
issue, he urged the party hierarchy to ensure that justice prevails in the
party in the state.
''The problem of the party in the
state has to do with justice, respect for rule of law and internal democracy.
If we can overcome this, the party will be on its way to electoral victory in
the state come 2019. He stressed that justice is a precursor for progress and
unity of the party
On the political aspiration of Sen.
Magnus Ngei Abe, Sen. Ake said the Senator representing Rivers south east has
distinguished himself and made himself easily acceptable to the people of the
state because of his accessibility and the way he has carried himself in the
various positions he has been. He said Sen. Magnus Abe aside having the support
of the structure of the party in the state, has all it takes to garner support
for his ambition which will reflect on the chances of the party to clinch
victory.
''Aside the general appeal he has
among the generality of the people of the state, he has the experience that is needed
to win the elections and having transverse both the legislative and executive
positions since the advent of the present democracy in the country as member of
the House of Assembly, Commissioner, Secretary to the State Government and now
Senator of the Federal Republic, he has gotten all the experience that is needed
to make the state forward from what we are witnessing'' he said
Sen. Ake while reacting to the
question that has to do with the spate of killings in the country, urged the
president to do more. He also called on Nigerians to eschew politics and give
the president the support that is needed to win the war against violence and
