The
Cross River Progressives Alliance CPA a socio political Group in Cross River
state has described the petition written by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs
Pastor UsaniUsaniUguru as dead on arrival even as it urged the Minister to act
as a man of God he says he is by embracing the outcome of the September 30th
APC primaries that witnessed the emergence of Sen. John Owan Enoh as the flag
bearer of the party in the state.
The
group in a press statement signed by Egbolato Johnson and made available to
newsmen said there was no way that the Usani Usani petition can fault the Ali
Magaji led electoral Committee which conducted transparent primaries across all
the wards in the state. It described the petition as selfish and self-serving
and a ploy to cause unnecessary distraction within the fold of the party.
“Will
the Honourable Minister say that the election which saw Sen. Owan scoring over
eighty thousand votes out of 101,212 votes casted on that fateful day is not
justified? It is disheartening that somebody who claims to be a loyal party
member can attempt to rock the boat because it does not favour him. This is a
very wrong way to play politics and should not be encouraged by the National
Working Committee of our great party” the statement said.
The
Cross River Progressive Alliance hailed other party members that accepted the
outcome of the primaries as true democrats that have the interest of the party
at heart. It said the major objective of the party should be how to wrest power
from the non performing governor who has dragged the state backward despite the
enormous opportunities that the state has. “What we need at this point in time
is to join forces to kick out the non performing PDP led administration in the
state under Ben Ayade. We owe it as an obligation as Cross River people to do
this and it is crystal clear that the petition of Usani Usani against the more
popular, acceptable, experienced and people oriented candidate like John Owan Enoh
negates what we the people of Cross River are yearning for” the statement added.
