Rivers APC Guber Primaries: Aisha Buhari Has Proved Us Right- Rivers Progressives Alliance

The Rivers Progressives Alliance says the position of the wife of the President Mrs. Aisha Buhari on the impunity that reigns in the party has proved them right on their position on the outcome of the kangaroo primaries that took place in the state on the 30^th of September.

The group in a press statement signed by its Director of Publicity Eddie Tekenah said the sham that took place in the primaries where the names of delegates were changed overnight to favour the candidate of the Minister of Transport Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi which led to the call for postponement and subsequent withdrawal of Barr. Dumo Lulu Briggs from the primaries if allowed to stand will lead to the failure of the party in the general elections next year. “we complained of the way impunity has been instituted in the party and nobody cared to listen to us and today the wife of the President who is not a small figure within the party has reiterated our stance. We believe it is high time Mr. President call the party leadership to order so they do the right thing otherwise the party will suffer”. The statement said.

“How can the party explain the treatment meted to a party stalwart like Barr. Dumo Lulu Briggs who has sacrificed so much for the party and who remains the most popular and acceptable candidate of the party that has all it takes to wrest power from the PDP led state government? We stand to be corrected that the Minister is working to favour the victory of the state governor in the coming general election to continue with the Ikwerre agenda which aims to lord it over the other ethnic groups especially the riverine areas of the state”.

The statement called on the people of the riverine area of the state not to allow themselves to be deceived because the celebrated love which the leader of the party in the state has been bandying is false and does not exist. “If the party leader loves the people of the riverine area of the state he would have done the right thing which would have led to the most popular and acceptable candidate from the riverine Kalabari axis emerging as standard bearer of the party. How can one explain the fact that people that are not as acceptable to the people of the state like Dumo Lulu Briggs will beat him in a free and fair primaries. It shows there is something fishy which is bigger than what we are seeing. Thank God for the wife of the President who has raised the alarm so it doesn’t look like we are the only ones making statement as regards the wickedness going on in the party which aims to favour a single individual in the party” the statement concluded.

Rivers Governmnet, PDP Disagree Over $280 million Looan

The Rivers State Government and the Peoples Democratic Party in the state are currently at loggerheads over the request by the state Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, for a $280m loan for water and sanitation projects. While the state PDP said that the latest request for loan by the state government was unnecessary due to the resources accruing to the state through the federal allocation and internally generated revenue, the government said it was not true that the funds were to be used for 2015 elections. The state House of Assembly had on Monday endorsed Amaechi’s request for loan for water supply and sanitation projects. The leadership of the Arewa Youth Forum on Monday said President Muhammadu Buhari does not deserve any endorsement for the 2019 presidency.
