“PDP Has Credible Governorship Candidates” Group Replies Gov. Amaechi

The Niger Delta Renaissance Organisation has reacted to a statement credited to Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State alleging that the Peoples Democratic Party PDP lacks credible governorship candidates in the state. The governor was alleged to have made the statement during an Inspection tour of the Adokiye Amiesimaka Sports Complex in Greater Port Harcourt recently.
The group said the statement credited to Governor Amaechi is highly misleading and malicious. In a press statement signed by its National Secretary Barr. Kingsley Eze Frank, the group said  the party boasts of an array of men and women of proven track of integrity and distinction in private business and public service. The group  cited Chief Barr. Dumo Lulu Briggs a governorship aspirant in the PDP is a credible personality and  said it will be preposterous for Governor Amaechi  to tell Nigerians that a political party with Lulu Briggs as an aspirant lacks credible candidates.
The group said as a leader who oversees a state like Rivers state, Governor Amaechi must be conscious of his choice of words. “As a governor and a political leader, Governor Amaechi must learn to be conscious of his choice of words before making public speeches.
The Niger Delta Renaissance Organisation however agreed with the governor on the issue of zoning. It said if the Peoples Democratic Party PDP is desirous of winning the forthcoming elections, it must zone the governorship seat to the  riverine people of Rivers state who have not been privileged to govern the state since the creation of the new Rivers state.
The NDRO also hailed the Transformation strides of President Goodluck Jonathan which it said is yielding fruits. On the issue of insecurity, the Niger Delta Renaissance Organisation said it is optimistic that the fight against insurgency will succeed. “Every government has its challenges. Despite the challenges faced by the Boko Haram insurgency, we remain optimistic that the country will win the war. It behoves all of us as patriotic Nigerians to support our government especially our soldiers who daily put their lives at risk to protect our country” the group posited.

DEFECTIONS: Why Saraki, Dogara Others Must Heed Sen. Ibrahim's Call by Comrade Nwokoma Ndubuisi M.

The gale of defections in the National Assembly last week was followed by an advice from no one else than Sen. Abu Ibrahim that the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki as well as the Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara and others in the fold of the All Progressives Congress APC that are still masquerading in the party should resign their membership of the party. This call which also implies that they resign their positions as leaders of the various arms of the National Assembly is yet to be complied with by those concerned as at the time of writing this piece Whatever their reasons for still staying put in the party may be, the fact of the matter is that their continued stay in the party has become a sore which must be extricated from the body.  As I watched through the proceedings of the defections on national television, I wept for the country for producing such leaders that lack morality despite all the party has given them politically which they ordin...
