Ahead of May 29: Buhari to drop ‘General’ from his name

Ogun APC attributes Buhari’s victory to resilient human spirit

The President Elect, General Muhammadu Buhari will from May 29 drop the title “General” from his name.

This disclosure was contained in a statement signed by the Director, Directorate of Media and Publicity of the President Elect, Mallam Garba Shehu which also released the official portrait of Buhari and his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo. It reads;
The terse statement reads, “From May 29, 2015, the President-elect and Vice-President-elect are to be respectively known and addressed as Muhammadu Buhari, President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
Buhari, a retired Major General in the Nigerian Army was Head of State of Nigeria from 31 December 1983 to 27 August 1985, after taking power in a military coup d’état
He won the Nigeria’s highest political seat on March 28, 2015 after three unsuccessful attempts in 2003, 2007 and 2011.
