Before We Crucify Sen. Abbo

The Nigerian media especially the social media hemisphere has been flooded with the alleged beating of a nursing mother by a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Sen. Elisha Abbo. The Senator who represents Adamawa North Senatorial District had come to national limelight after he had trounced Sen. Binta Garba at the February polls. As I watched the video, I couldn’t help trying to figure why any human being could be driven to the point of hitting a woman who tried to intervene in the matter that maybe did not concern her as the Senator had asked while hitting her. When I read the initial reaction of the Senator that his sister was beaten to pulp and was about giving up the ghost which led to the level of hysteria he displayed at the shop, as a social psychologist I tried to rationalize the situation that may have driven the young Senator to have acted the way he did. I have also read the statement of apology credited to the senator where he expressly state...

President Muhammadu Buhari has admitted that the performance of his administration in the power sector was “not good enough.” He said that this called for more efforts by Electricity Distribution Companies to provide the needed resources and technical expertise. The Nigerian leader stated in Abuja on Wednesday when the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’ Edo Ewuare II, led members of the Edo State Council of Traditional Rulers and chiefs on a visit to the President at the Presidential Villa. The Benin monarch, who sought Buhari’s intervention on the poor power supply situation in Edo State, had described it as a “pathetic situation.” The President, however, appealed to Nigerians for calm, while urging them to be patient with the Discos to deliver on their mandate. A statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, quoted...

9th National Assembly: Before We AnointTinubu President by Comrade Nwokoma Messiah.

The race for who becomes the leader of the two arms of government come this June has become an interesting   and intriguing in the past days not with the verbosity of the Chairman of the ruling party especially as it has to do with who the party has anointed. The Chairman's stance which does not go very well with lots of his party members have led to the decision of members of his party to defile his stance which they consider undemocratic. They have thrown their hats into the ring believing that majority of the members will do the needful by voting against imposition. It is the general belief of most members I have interacted with that the desperation to impose the candidates which the chairman had been bandying is to ensure that the leader of the party has a smooth sailing to the presidency come 2023. As much as this may not be a fact, the actions of the chairman have continued to lend credence to this conspiracy theory. Many Nigerians have been wondering why t...
