As workers in Rivers
State join their counterparts all over the world to celebrate Workers Day, the
state Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr Felix Obuah, has urged workers in the state
to remain committed to their work to reciprocate the good gestures of Governor
Nyesom Wike. Obuah,
In a statement, yesterday, to felicitate with
workers in the state, urged them to
leverage on the enabling environment provided by the administration of Governor
Wike whom he described as the most workers friendly governor in Nigeria.
He urged them to
continue to work hard and increase their productivity, adding that “to whom
much is given, much is also expected.” Recalling what he called the dark era
for Rivers State workers under the administration of the immediate past state
government, he said the former governor subjected workers to untold hardship
with months of unpaid salaries.
“To the glory of God,
Governor Wike has, as at today , not only cleared all of those unpaid workers’
salaries owed by the former governor but has gone ahead to clear even those
owed the pensioners,” he said. He said as those who play critical role in the
development of the state, workers should complement Governor Wike’s efforts and
shun truancy or any act capable of defeating the noble objective of government.
Obuah called on workers
to use the occasion of the World Workers Day and pray for the continued success
of the Governor Wike administration as he strives to deliver the dividends of
democracy to them.
