Rivers LGA Elections: ‘’APC’s Decision to Boycott Regrettable’’- NDRO
The Niger Delta Renaissance Organisation says the decision of the All Peoples Congress APC to boycott the local government elections billed to hold in the state on Saturday 16th June is regrettable.

The group in a statement made available to newsmen said the APC’s decision to boycott the election in the state is not to the good of the people of the state. The NDRO in the statement signed by its National Coordinator Comrade Nwokoma Messiah said the party through its conduct as the main opposition party in the state is showing itself to be a threat to democracy rather than a beacon of hope to the people. It lampooned the APC for not borrowing a leaf from opposition parties in other state who participated in LGA elections in their various states.

The organization while commending the other political parties that embraced the elections said the APC should not turn itself to lords in the state. “Opposition politics does not mean that one should always grandstand even in issues that are beneficial to the people of the state. Rivers state has suffered so much as a result of the absence of an elected government at the grassroots. The opportunity to realize that should not be threatened by the decision of the APC to boycott the elections based on reasons that have been overtaken by events.’’ The statement said.

The statement called on the people of the state to come out en-masse to participate in the forthcoming elections stating that their participation in the election will show that the people of the state are really hungry for a substantive elected government in the local government level of the state. We at the Niger Delta Renaissance Organisation NDRO will join hands with Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission RIVSIEC to sensitise the people of the state to participate in the election which we believe will be conducted properly based on the assurances of the RIVSIEC

DEFECTIONS: Why Saraki, Dogara Others Must Heed Sen. Ibrahim's Call by Comrade Nwokoma Ndubuisi M.

The gale of defections in the National Assembly last week was followed by an advice from no one else than Sen. Abu Ibrahim that the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki as well as the Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara and others in the fold of the All Progressives Congress APC that are still masquerading in the party should resign their membership of the party. This call which also implies that they resign their positions as leaders of the various arms of the National Assembly is yet to be complied with by those concerned as at the time of writing this piece Whatever their reasons for still staying put in the party may be, the fact of the matter is that their continued stay in the party has become a sore which must be extricated from the body.  As I watched through the proceedings of the defections on national television, I wept for the country for producing such leaders that lack morality despite all the party has given them politically which they ordin...
