2019: Orashi Peoiple will Give Magnus Abe Huge Support- Sen. Ake

A former member of the Nigerian senate Sen. Wilson Asinobi Ake has said that the people of Orashi region will give Sen. Magnus Abe huge support in his bid to be governor of Rivers state come 2019. Sen. Asinobi made this known when he spoke to newsmen who sought his comment on the decision of Sen. Magnus Abe to declare for the governorship position under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

Sen. Ake who represented Rivers West senatorial district from 2007 to 2015 said Sen. Abe remains the best candidate to fly the flag of APC in Rivers state ahead of the coming elections. He said the APC hierarchy in Rivers state are all disposed to a Magnus Abe candidature when the time for the primaries comes. He said it is wrong to say that the Senator representing Rivers East was heating up the polity through his declaration stressing that the Senator does not need to get clearance from anybody to enforce his fundamental right of seeking for the office of the governor of Rivers state. ‘’what matters is that the people are happy with him over his declaration for the position of Governor of Rivers state’’. He said.

Sen. Ake urged Rivers people not to relent in their support for Sen. Abe whom he described as the best candidate for the Rivers Brick House come 2019. ‘’Sen. Magnus Abe is the most experienced candidate for the position of Governor of Rivers State. His credentials speak well of him and we must embrace such experience which he has garnered over the years in his political career” Sen. Ake stressed.

He also stated that he was going to mobilise the people of Orashi region to support Sen. Abe who he said will bring the dividends of democracy to the generality of the people of not only the Orashi region but the state at large.

Rivers Governmnet, PDP Disagree Over $280 million Looan

The Rivers State Government and the Peoples Democratic Party in the state are currently at loggerheads over the request by the state Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, for a $280m loan for water and sanitation projects. While the state PDP said that the latest request for loan by the state government was unnecessary due to the resources accruing to the state through the federal allocation and internally generated revenue, the government said it was not true that the funds were to be used for 2015 elections. The state House of Assembly had on Monday endorsed Amaechi’s request for loan for water supply and sanitation projects. 2019: Northern youths kick as Northwest APC lawmakers endorse Buhari

The leadership of the Arewa Youth Forum on Monday said President Muhammadu Buhari does not deserve any endorsement for the 2019 presidency. Reacting to a purported endorsement by some serving All Progressives Congress’s lawmakers from the Northwest in Kaduna, the AYF’s National President, Alhaji Gambo Gujungu, said Buhari was not fit to return as president in 2019.
