‘’Rally Gov. Wike and Go Round’’ -OPCA Urge Orashi People.




The Orashi Peoples Consultative Assembly OPCA has urged the people of Orashi region and the entire Rivers people to rally round the state Governor Barr. Nyesom Wike, The Peoples Democratic Party and its state Chairman Bro. Felix Obuah whom the body described as an illustrious son of Orashi region. The assembly which is a pan Orashi socio cultural and civil society group is comprised of mainly ethnic nationalities in Ahoada East, Ahoada West, Abua / Odual and Ogba/Ndoni/Egbema local government areas of the state which is reputed to be the highest oil and gas producing  zone in the Niger Delta region.

 In a press statement which was made available to newsmen and signed by its national President Comr. Barr. Kinglsey Frank, the assembly said the infrastructural projects of the Wike led administration is commendable the group noted that the widespread projects in the state has given the generality of Rivers people a sense of belonging and high degree of confidence in the administration of Gov. Wike.

The group stressed that the leadership style of Barr. Nyesom Wike which is dynamic and purposeful has endeared the people of the state to the Peoples Democratic Party PDP. ‘’As far as the people of Orashi region is concerned, there is no political rival to the PDP. The party is deep rooted and popular in the state because of its pragmatic and developmental style. Why should we abandon such a party for the opposition party that has shown crass disdain for the people of the region from the centre?’’ the statement quipped.

The Orashi Peoples Consultative Assembly OPCA described Bro. Felix Obuah the Chairman of the PDP in Rivers state as an illustrious son of the region who deserves the absolute support of the people for his passion for the development of the Orashi region. ‘’being ostensibly the highest private investor and employer of labour marks him out as a progressive and exemplary leader in the region’’. The group hailed the chairman for using his position to attract vital economic and infrastructural projects to the region through his cordial relationship with the state governor. The assembly said that the projects such as the ongoing Ahoada –Omoku-Egbema road project as well as numerous other road projects in the four LGAs as well as projects in other sectors such as health, education etc.

The group further observed that going by the array of human and capital investments of the PDP chairman is hardly suggestive of a man that does not want peace in an area where he has such investments as insinuated by his critics. ‘’how can someone who is averse to peace and security peace in his region invest massively the way he has done in the region over these years?  For example Premiership and continental matches are played in Omoku Town, courtesy of the efforts of Bro. Obuah. He also has investments in the leisure business which is averse to violence and insecurity. We want to see other illustrious sons of the region make such bold investments in Orashi region’’ the assembly said

OPCA also hinted that as a result of the all-embracing and purpose driven leadership of the present administration as well as the charismatic and popular acceptance which he enjoys across the region, a good number of the opposition will be defecting from the opposition party and retracing their steps back to the PDP. ‘’we have concluded plans that will mark their formal defection in a massive rally in Ahoada town’’ the statement concluded.
