The Ogba Youth
Consultative Assembly a socio political group that promotes the interest of the
Ogba people in Ogba/ Egbema/ Ndoni local government area of Rivers State has
hailed President Muhammadu Buhari and the minister of Interior Lt. Gen Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau
over their roles in the killing of the mastermind of the January 1st
attack on innocent persons returning home from the Ney Year cross over in Omoku
Town the ONELGA headquarters.
The National Publicity Secretary
of the assembly Comrade. Joseph Izidor in a press statement made available to
newsmen in the state said the timely intervention of the President through the
minister of interior ensured that the mastermind of the attack as well as two
other of his co conspirators were tracked down and killed thus bringing
confidence and peace to the area.
The assembly which
lamented the insecurity that pervaded the Ogba nation in the past three and
half years said the situation would not have escalated the way it did if the
people of the state had come up with one voice to condemn the activities of the
criminal elements in the area “it is unfortunate that the Ogba nation which
prided itself as one of the most peaceful
and fastest developing areas in Rivers state and the country at large could
fall victims to the activities of cultists who clearly were sponsored by
various political structures in the state. It is even much worrisome that the
political gladiators who encouraged and commissioned the boys to carry out
their nefarious activities instead of condemning their activities were busy
pointing accusing fingers at each other while the cultists had there field day.
As we commend Mr. President for his timely intervention and a job well done, we
also wish to use this medium to commend the Minister of interior Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau
for living up to the challenge and not allowing himself to fall into the
cesspool of negative politicking in Ogba land and the state which has fostered
the insecurity in Ogba land and other areas”. The statement concluded.
