The person of Hon. Randolph Iruene Brown needs no introduction
especially in this 8thNational Assembly considering that he is one of the men
of the respected green chambers of the National Assembly who have moved motions
and made contributions in the House that
touches the lives of the common man especially the people of his constituency
in very positive ways.
The member representing Bonny/Degema in the House of
Representatives has not failed to impress us that voted him to power. I remember
the role he played in putting pressure against the Nigerian Liquefied Natural
Gas company over its plans to locate its corporate headquarters in Lagos rather
than in Bonny Niger Delta. Aware of the positives of locating the headquarters
of the NLNG Company in Bonny and the very wonderful transformation it will bring
to the place and the people. I must confess that this first termer in the House
tickled the fancy of most of his constituency by that very strong protest to
the NLNG. Most of us saw it as the show of a man who has steel and could make a
better rep.
Since coming to the House he has been involved in many motions
and
bills in the House. One of such motions that is worthy of mention (not that others are not worthy also but for space) is the motion on the need to revisit the contract for the Bonny Ring Road and
bridge Project. This project which according to Hon. Brown while moving the motion was valued at over eleven billion has sine been abandoned y the contractors Jafac Motors. As Hon. Brown had earlier stated in one of his interviews that
bonny and Degema
bears the burden of this country. My surprise is that how come such a sensitive project that affects the livese of the people living in that community can be so brutalized as in not completing such project in record time. It is good we have such a personality like Hon. Iruene Brown in the House who is very much in tune with the wishes and aspirations of the people of his constituency. I do believe that he is going to do more.

Like I earlier stated Hon. Brown is a first termer but he has
quickly integrated himself and established himself as a consummate lawmaker.
How he has achieved such a fit will definitely not be unconnected with his inclination
to always reach out to people. Just as he normally reaches out to his constituents, Hon. Randolph Brown has also brought
in such candour to the National Assembly and it is gradually working in his
favour. The support vote he received when he presented the motion on the abandoned
Bonny Ring Road project is a testimony of what I am talking about. One problem
most constituencies have is that there members do not reach out to other members
in the House in order to get their motions or Bills passed. This is not the case
in Bonny/ Degema Federal constituency today.
As I write this piece now the National Assembly are on recess
and will soon be resuming. I believe Hon. Brown as usual will have reached out
to his constituents and will be coming out with something that will push
forward the interest of his constituency at the green chambers.
We his constituents remain grateful for the way and manner he
has assisted the people through jobs, empowerment programmes as well as proactive
representation among others. He has earned the confidence of the people who
will not hesitate to show him their gratitude if and when he seeks for anything
from the people. I am not by this article trying to sound too political. My contribution
is based on an objective analysis of the role the Bonny born legislator has
played in his time at the National Assembly so far. Trust me yours truly is not
the kind of person that will venture into praise singing a legislator whose
sole aim is to ask in the euphoria of just being a member of the Nigerian
Federal House of Representatives.
