Image result for bayelsa governorship elections pictures
Members of the National Assembly from the South South geopolitical region have commended the people of Bayelsa State for the way and manner they voted Governor Seriake Dicksoin across all local governments in the state. In the results released so far Seriake Dickson of the PDP is leading the All Progressives Congress candidate Timi Sylva in 6 local governments while the APC won just one LGA
The members who spoke with our crew during a mini survey carried out by our reporters at the National Assembly today, commended INEC for cancelling the results of the Southern Ijaw local government stressing that it would have been an embarrassment to democracy.
The members said Bayelsa people showed they cannot be in intimidated by Federal might or lured by the lucre of ‘government in power syndrome’
The members who craved anonymity because the final results have not been mentioned said that the violence that greeted the conduct of the election in some parts of the state especially southern Ijaw which precipitated the cancellation of the result in the local government area was uncalled for.
Most persons our reporters spoke with outside the National Assembly urged the people of Bayelsa state not to allow themselves to become a source of national mockery through the way and manner they comport themselves in the forthcoming elections. They told our reporters that the people of the state should not allow themselves to be tainted with violence stigma.
One Ere Ebiski who spoke with our reporter in Bayelsa State said resorting to violence shows that the people have failed to learn from history. In his words “I think we ought to have outgrown this form of politicking. Resorting to such atavistic tendencies will only do us greater harm.”

The solidarity which the people of the state and APC members showed for the Ogoni born Senator has to be respected by the party unlike what is happening today where the party seems to be favouring the emergence of Tonye Cole all in the bid to please the former governor of t...
