The Rivers State Commissioner of Police has described Civil
Society Organizations as strategic partners in the prevention of crimes in any
society.
The Rivers State Commissioner of Police Mr. Chris Ezike made
this known while receiving the Coalition of Civil Society Groups in Rivers
state. The Coalition was led by Amb. Emmanuel Nkweke of the International World
Advocates of Peace.
The Rivers Police Commissioner stressed the need for a strong synergy between
the police and civil society groups.
Police Commissioner Ezike said the present administration is standing on
the tripod of integrity, transparency and good governance. He urged Nigerians to ensure that they key into the vision of the
government and imbibe the positive virtues needed to move the society forward.
The Rivers State Commissioner of police who frowned at the
rising rate of crime in the country, said that crime rate in Rivers state must
go down during his administration. He commended the members of the police force
for their gallantry which has led to the unraveling of heinous crime
perpetrated by miscreants pledging that
he will not relent in bringing their sponsors to book..
He commended the members of the coalition for their
determination to make the society better by championing various issues of national importance. He said the police force
under his command will give all necessary support to ensure that civil society
groups carry out their duties effectively.
The leader of the Coalition Nkweke Emmanuel welcomed the
Police Commissioner and assured him of the support of civil society groups in the fight against
crime in Rivers state.
Mr. Nkweke told he Police Commissioner that it is vital that the Police include civil society groups in its fight against crime. He told the CP that the Coalition will be organising a world peace day calling on the Police to give them the necessary support needed to make it successful.
