Rotimi Amaechi |
A pro-Rotimi Amaechi group, Inter-Ethnic Network for Chibuike
Rotimi Amaechi, has dismissed speculations that the All Progressives Congress
in the state was in crisis.
The group, which insisted that the state APC was intact and
ready to take over the seat of government in Rivers, said that party remained
united and ready for the task in 2019.
Speaking during the inauguration of the group on Saturday,
the Chairman, Central Working Committee of INCRA, Mr. Achor Omodu, also
dismissed the claim by the state Governor, Nyesom Wike, that the immediate past
governor of the state, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, had formed a cult group in the
state.
Omodu argued that with Amaechi’s pedigree and legacy in the
state, he would never contemplate having anything to do with cultism.
He said, “There is no division in the APC in Rivers State.
The party in the state is united under the leadership of Rt. Honourable
Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
Describing the APC as a democratic party, Omodu explained
that candidates would be chosen according to democratic principles, adding that
the APC would not impose candidates on the people.
Omodu said, i“This is 2017 and election is two years away.
The APC is a very democratic party and when it is time for candidates to
emerge, our party will produce them in the most democratic manner.
“We are mobilising now ahead of 2019. But those who believe
in cutting corners are idle. This time, we are hopeful that INEC will do its
work.”
