Huddersfield returns to Premier League after 45 years

Huddersfield Town on Monday gained promotion to Premier League after 45 years.

The club won the final spot for next season by defeating Reading 4-3 via penalty kicks.

Christopher Schindler sealed their return to England’s top-flight scoring the decisive penalty in the shoot-out.

Schindler became the club’s record signing when he joined from 1860 Munichfor a mere £1.8m last summer and his goal has earned Huddersfield minimum of £170m.

Huddersfield now joins Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion as the three teams that gained promotion to compete in the elite next season.
