support he needs to succeed as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Ateke Tom is also the leader of the Niger Delta Volunteer Force NDVF. He spoke with our crew at his Okochiri Okrika
Home. He said it is imperative that the President and the legislature form a
good working relationship so as to move the country forward. He called on
Nigerians to show love and patriotism for the country stressing that this is
the overriding motivation for his celebrating the Independence Day Celebration
this for the past years. "My love for Nigeria is the reason why I have
been celebrating the country’s Independence since I accepted amnesty. I have
done this with pump and pageantry and will always do. You also know it is also
the day former President late Umar Yaradua (May his soul rest in peace) granted
me amnesty. I urge all Nigerians to learn to celebrate our great country in the
little way they can also" He said. High Chief
Ateke Tom called on the governorship aspirants for the
December 5th 2015 governorship election in Bayelsa to follow the path of peace
stressing that at the end of the day one person will emerge victorious and that
person will have human beings to govern and not the vestige of destructions
that would have been brought about by avoidable violence from politicians.
He said the peace evident in Okrika today is as a result of
the collaboration of all stakeholders towards promoting peace and progress in
the community. “I have promoted peace in my community by empowering the people
towards achieving economic independence. I also sustain the peace through the
various concerts I organise in the Community and soon the tourism potentials of
Okrika will be better exposed by this venture of mine" The highly
respected grassroots mobiliser in the Niger Delta region posited.
