The Chairperson of the National
Social Insurance Trust Fund NSITF Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Juliet Olejeme has issued a
message commiserating with the people and government of Bayelsa State over the
death of prominent women from the state in a motor accident in Rivers State.
In the condolence message, Dr.
Olejeme urged the families of all those who have lost their loved ones in the
tragedy to take solace in the comfort of God. “It is with painful heart that I
commiserate with the People and Government of Bayelsa over the ghastly auto
crash involving prominent women from the state. I pray that God will grant the
bereaved families the fortitude to bear the losses, while urging the people and
Government of Bayelsa State to be comforted and strengthened by God even as
they grief the loss of dear ones”.
Olejeme further described the
incident as one that is painful, coming at a time when the services of these
great women are needed most in family and nation building. Amidst tears,
Olejeme prayed God to grant eternal rest to the souls of the deceased.
In addition, the Ngozi Juliet
Olejeme Foundation; a non-profit organization also expressed shock and
disbelief over the death of these Bayelsa women. The foundation, through its
Coordinator in Abuja; Barrister Chukwuemeka Clement, sympathized with the
families of those who lost their loved ones in the accident. It prayed that the
almighty God grant them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
The Foundation whose mission is to
foster philanthropy through advocacy, education, empowerment and upliftment of
orphans, young females, women, widows and the elderly noted the contributions
of these women to the society. “These women were not only female politicians
and leaders but were responsible mothers who have used their contacts to put
smiles on the door steps of the under privileged in the society.
More so, their adventure into the
male dominated world of politics provided and would continue to provide the
leverage for more women to participate in politics towards the development of the
Bayelsa people and Nigeria at large”, the Foundation said.
