Sun Hospitality Personality Award: Felix Obuah an exemplary leader by Comrade Nwokoma Messiah

Recently the media hemisphere has been dotted with the prestigious Hospitality Personality Award given to Bro. Felix Obuah the Chairman of Krisdera Hotels Omoku. This well deserved award to Bro. Obuah who is also the owner of Go Round football club also in Omoku town has shown that our news outlets are really doing a good job to promote the efforts of Nigerians who are investing to change their communities and Societies for the better.

It is on record that Omoku town prides itself as the headquarters of oil and gas production in West Africa but it's popularity has never been well acclaimed within the sub region. The existence of Port Harcourt the Rivers State capital has always beclouded the serene town but the establishment of Go Round football club some years back and it's qualification to play in the continental football competition helped bring the fledging town to international limelight. The club which prides itself as one of the few clubs in the country which owns it's own football stadium also in Omoku town was doing marvellously well in the Nigerian league before the outbreak of the Corona pandemic that led to halting of sporting activities.

What the Chairman of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency RIWAMA is doing for the hospitality industry may not be limited to his football club alone. Krisdera hotel which he established over a decade ago has comprehensively changed the face of tourism and Hospitality not only in Omoku town but in Rivers State and Nigeria as a whole. The state of the art five star facility has hosted major events while also accommodating major celebrities. The five star hotel with wonder facilities has become a wonder which Nigerians have continued to appreciate. I remember some years back when some members of the Senate visited Erema town when former Senate Chairman of the committee on Labour and productivity Sen. Wilson Asinobi Ake buried his in-law, one of the senators who slept at Krisdera hotel commended the vision of Felix Obuah in setting up the hotel which he described as a real wonder.

The good works of Bro. Obuah does not end only in the hospitality industry he has impacted in developing his native Ogbaland more than any person. His Ogba Comprehensive School can be described as an epitome of learning which can be compared to what can be found in any modern academic institution. He has also empowered so many persons in the Orashi region something which has led to his being awarded the Eze Orashi title.

Bro. Obuah is not like other politicians or personalities that are not in tune with his people. He is so loved by the people of his area and he also enjoys a large following in his Rivers home state. The religious community and traditional institutions have also continually identified with his numerous good works. Little wonder he was decorated with the title of Eze Orashi by the Eze Egi of Ogbaland Prof. Anaele Uzondu. Very recently also the Oba of Ogbaland Sir Chukwumela Nnam Obi II hosted him in his palatial palace to eulogise him on his positive efforts. What else can one say about this celebrated personality?

As he is continually celebrated, I and other Niger Deltans will not fail to thank God Almighty for giving us such a personality who has touched the lives of so many,  changing their stories while still remaining very humble to a fault.

Happily married and a devout Christian, Bro. Felix Obuah"s latest award stands as a testimony of his commitment to nation building and it is the general belief of many who have come to know him that he will impact more on the people if he is given greater responsibilities.

DEFECTIONS: Why Saraki, Dogara Others Must Heed Sen. Ibrahim's Call by Comrade Nwokoma Ndubuisi M.

The gale of defections in the National Assembly last week was followed by an advice from no one else than Sen. Abu Ibrahim that the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki as well as the Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara and others in the fold of the All Progressives Congress APC that are still masquerading in the party should resign their membership of the party. This call which also implies that they resign their positions as leaders of the various arms of the National Assembly is yet to be complied with by those concerned as at the time of writing this piece Whatever their reasons for still staying put in the party may be, the fact of the matter is that their continued stay in the party has become a sore which must be extricated from the body.  As I watched through the proceedings of the defections on national television, I wept for the country for producing such leaders that lack morality despite all the party has given them politically which they ordin...

Rivers Governmnet, PDP Disagree Over $280 million Looan

The Rivers State Government and the Peoples Democratic Party in the state are currently at loggerheads over the request by the state Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, for a $280m loan for water and sanitation projects. While the state PDP said that the latest request for loan by the state government was unnecessary due to the resources accruing to the state through the federal allocation and internally generated revenue, the government said it was not true that the funds were to be used for 2015 elections. The state House of Assembly had on Monday endorsed Amaechi’s request for loan for water supply and sanitation projects. But the state PDP, in a statement, signed by the Special Adviser to its Chairman, Mr. Jerry Needam, said the request for loan was aimed at punishing the governor’s successor in 2015. The party called on members of the House of Assembly, the Federal Ministry of Finance, the African Development Bank and the World Bank not to honour the loan re...

2019: Northern youths kick as Northwest APC lawmakers endorse Buhari

The leadership of the Arewa Youth Forum on Monday said President Muhammadu Buhari does not deserve any endorsement for the 2019 presidency. Reacting to a purported endorsement by some serving All Progressives Congress’s lawmakers from the Northwest in Kaduna, the AYF’s National President, Alhaji Gambo Gujungu, said Buhari was not fit to return as president in 2019. The AYF argued that with the killing spree all over the country, especially in the North, Buhari should serve his mandatory four years term and quit the stage for another Northerner. Gujungu noted that one sour point about President Buhari’s 2019 ambition was his claim that the killings across the country were being carried out by “desperate politicians”, yet he had not arrested even a single suspect. The AYF president, therefore, said Nigerians should blame the president for the attacks on innocent citizens. The AYF boss who spoke to our correspondent on phone on Monday, said the President’s cl...
