Ali Modu Sheriff, Boko Haram and the Resort To Falsehood by Comrade Nwokoma Messiah

Recently during the Nigerian Bar Association NBA Conference in Port Harcourt the Rivers state capital, the attorney general of Borno state Kaka Shehu Lawan had called on security agencies to arrest the former governor of the state and present Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff for creating the terror group called Boko Haram. Such allegation which is not the first of its kind by political detractors of Sheriff would have been allowed to pass but for the fact that Mr. Kaka had made his allegation to look like the official position of the State government and that he had chosen an august occasion such as the gathering of lawyers to make such allegation made the call more grievous. The position of the Chief Law officer of Borno state also attracted attention of the Nigerian people because he had also made it look like he was on a mission to impress his host the governor of Rivers state who a week earlier suffered disappointment in his bid to host th...

Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, OPM and Footprints of Exemplary Christian Ministry by Nwokoma Messiah

My last visit to Port Harcourt the Rivers State capital and subsequent decision to worship on Sunday in one of the numerous churches that adorn the oil city took me to the Omega Power Ministries (OPM).   This fledging ministry with a band of dedicated members has been gaining popularity by the day not only in Port Harcourt but outside the state. So when my host an avid believer in Christ and a member of the OPM ministries suggested I come and partake in the groove at the House of God located at Eliozu road, I did not hesitate to pick my Bible and join him. As a believer in Christ and committed one at that but from an orthordox Christian background, I must say I have never witnessed the magnitude of what I encountered at OPM in   Port Harcourt on that fateful Sunday. I was not only awed by the dedication and the belief of the members in seeking the face of our saviour, the tenacity and effectiveness of the church staff but   by   the efficacious delivery of...

“Leave Sen. Kashamu Alone” APW Warns NDLEA

The Association of Parliamentary Writers APW has warned the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA to leave Sen. Buruji Kashamu alone. The association made this known in a press statement to newsmen in Abuja yesterday stressing that any attempt by the NDLEA to arrest Sen. Kashamu or abduct him will be met with dire consequences which the agency will not find easy. The statement signed by Barr. Kingsley Eze Frank said it will be an abuse of due process for the anti-narcotics agency to arrest or abduct the Senator representing Ogun East senatorial District using whatever guise. It said considering the fact there is a subsisting Federal High Court judgment against the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA from arresting the senator and a Senate directive that also restrained the NDLEA from arresting him, “the agency will be acting against instructions and order of legitimate institutions of state by arresting or abducting a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for w...

Mr. Sani-Omolori’s appointment was announced through a letter by the chairman of the Commission, Adamu Fika, last Wednesday. But the Senate President and Chairman of the National Assembly, Bukola Saraki, in a letter to Mr. Fika argued Mr. Efeturi should have been considered for the position since he (Efeturi) is currently the deputy clerk. Count us Out of Stoppage of N500bn Welfare Package

The National Assembly has faulted media reports that it was behind the stoppage of the payment of the proposed N500 billion for social welfare package to the unemployed in this year’s budget. In a statement jointly signed by the Chairmen of the Appropriation Committees of the two chambers, Senator Mohammed Danjuma Goje and Abdulmumin Jibrin, the lawmakers maintained that there was no iota of truth in the story carried in a section of the media.
