Taraba State And The Quest For David

Preparations for the next general elections are in high peak not with the various parties strategizing on how to win the elections at various levels. One state that does promise to be a point of reference on how the election plays out will be Taraba state. This is a state that has suffered some form of political uncertainty not with the issues that surrounded the health of the bonafide governor of the state.

The election promises to be interesting because indications show that the state might become another state with a governor from a newly registered political party. This candidate who is none other than Chief David Sabo Kente has by his popularity and his glaring victory come 11 April 2015 shown that personalities count in choosing who flies a party’s flag in any election. This obviously has sent the ruling Peoples Democratic Party seething in pains as I write this piece. The ruling party despite having a sitting governor has realised what they missed when they chose to indulge in the infamy of December 8th 2015.

I did a piece once on why the cabal that has refused to let Taraba grow is afraid of Chief David Sabo Kente DSK. It is obvious that the article is still apt as far as Taraba is concerned. Those scared of Chief Kente are obviously anti progressive people and they cut across the contending political parties in the state. This is why as people desirous of seeing a progressive Taraba state, we owe it as a duty not to be deceived by these retrogressive people and vote in somebody who is desirous of seeing a Taraba of unlimitless possibilities.

I have tried to analyse all the political promises of the other governorship aspirants and have come to realize that they lack what it takes to fulfill their promises or to govern a state like Taraba state with its heterogenous nature. One thing the state needs is somebody that can gel the various ethnic groups that makes up the state thereby bringing growth and development. Chief Kente does fit this bill and the people of Taraba state will not disappoint when the time comes.

I have been privileged to come across this amiable politician and witnessed his zeal to bring about growth and development for the state. He has a rich dossier and a very reputable track record of service. His staff while in service can very well attest to his style of administration which is hinged on proper man management.

No doubt Taraba state has a lot of potentials as far as the Nigerian nation is concerned. The ailing Governor during his active years in office did the best he could but what the state needs now is somebody who can proactively and effectively bring about the revolution of all the sectors of the state’s economy ranging from agriculture to mining to commerce, youth and women empowerment, road infrastructure, housing scheme for workers etc. Chief David Sabo Kente is not lacking in ideas that can bring all these to fruition. Like I earlier posited, the cabal that has destroyed the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Taraba is at a loss as to the kind of acceptance and boost that has greeted the decision of Chief Kente to opt for the Social Democratic Party SDP a party whose roots is built on progress and justice for all. Since its reemergence in the Nigerian political scene, the party has throughout the country, chosen people of impeccable character as its standard bearers across boards.

The party in Taraba state has nominated strong political war horses like serving senator  Senator Abubakar Tutare and retired Army General Bawuka. In the House of Assembly the SDP in Taraba state has very good aspirants that can make a political difference any day. Who then dare say the aprty is not on ground in the state?

Chief Kente the Founder of the David Sabo Kente Foundation will definitely give the people the best dividend of democracy they crave for. As I conclude this piece, it is imperative that I quote Chief Sabo Kente’s speech when he made his declaration known to the people of Taraba state… “I come to you as a humble apostle of truth and dialogue to present my new vision for our dear state that will take us to our next orbit of higher development with the purpose of unifying the knots that aches and trying the one that does not encumber, but unite”Bottom of Form Who says Taraba state does not need a David?

DEFECTIONS: Why Saraki, Dogara Others Must Heed Sen. Ibrahim's Call by Comrade Nwokoma Ndubuisi M.

The gale of defections in the National Assembly last week was followed by an advice from no one else than Sen. Abu Ibrahim that the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki as well as the Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara and others in the fold of the All Progressives Congress APC that are still masquerading in the party should resign their membership of the party. This call which also implies that they resign their positions as leaders of the various arms of the National Assembly is yet to be complied with by those concerned as at the time of writing this piece Whatever their reasons for still staying put in the party may be, the fact of the matter is that their continued stay in the party has become a sore which must be extricated from the body.  As I watched through the proceedings of the defections on national television, I wept for the country for producing such leaders that lack morality despite all the party has given them politically which they ordin...

Rivers Governmnet, PDP Disagree Over $280 million Looan

The Rivers State Government and the Peoples Democratic Party in the state are currently at loggerheads over the request by the state Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, for a $280m loan for water and sanitation projects. While the state PDP said that the latest request for loan by the state government was unnecessary due to the resources accruing to the state through the federal allocation and internally generated revenue, the government said it was not true that the funds were to be used for 2015 elections. The state House of Assembly had on Monday endorsed Amaechi’s request for loan for water supply and sanitation projects. But the state PDP, in a statement, signed by the Special Adviser to its Chairman, Mr. Jerry Needam, said the request for loan was aimed at punishing the governor’s successor in 2015. The party called on members of the House of Assembly, the Federal Ministry of Finance, the African Development Bank and the World Bank not to honour the loan re...

2019: Northern youths kick as Northwest APC lawmakers endorse Buhari

The leadership of the Arewa Youth Forum on Monday said President Muhammadu Buhari does not deserve any endorsement for the 2019 presidency. Reacting to a purported endorsement by some serving All Progressives Congress’s lawmakers from the Northwest in Kaduna, the AYF’s National President, Alhaji Gambo Gujungu, said Buhari was not fit to return as president in 2019. The AYF argued that with the killing spree all over the country, especially in the North, Buhari should serve his mandatory four years term and quit the stage for another Northerner. Gujungu noted that one sour point about President Buhari’s 2019 ambition was his claim that the killings across the country were being carried out by “desperate politicians”, yet he had not arrested even a single suspect. The AYF president, therefore, said Nigerians should blame the president for the attacks on innocent citizens. The AYF boss who spoke to our correspondent on phone on Monday, said the President’s cl...
