Niger Delta Group To Ex Militants – “ Election Is Not War”

The Niger Delta Renaissance organisation has told a segment of ex militants that the forthcoming  general elections must not be considered as war. The group said Nigeria’s unity must not be brought to question as the country gears up to the February 14th general elections.
The group in a press statement signed  by its National Coordinator and convener of the YOUTH SAY YES initiative Comrade Nwokoma Messiah said the attitude of people like Alhaji Asari Dokubo in blowing hot and cold as regards Mr. President’s reelection bid must be seen as a pointer top the kind of person he is. The group also reminded the ex Militants that the Niger Delta region needs other geopolitical regions to emerge victorious in the forthcoming elections warning that with statements like this coming from the ilk’s of Asari dokubo and Boyloaf, the Niger Delta region will end up having more enemies than friends.
The Niger Delta Renaissance Organisation’s YOUTH SAY YES TREK initiative which was first launched in Owerri the Imo state Capital last December has seen them visit several states in the country including Abuja the Federal Capital Territory. According to the National Coordinator of the group, “the trek is geared towards raising awareness of Nigerians for a peaceful non violent elections come 2015. The Trek also intends building awareness for a united Nigeria devoid of ethno religious hatred. Our trek is building confidence amongst Nigerians and statements as credited to the ex militants are uncharitable to our cause and must be strongly condemned”
While condemning the attack on the convoy of President Goodluck Jonathan, the group said it was at a loss as to why it took the opposition All Progressives Congress APC days to condemn the attacks. The group said it is evident that desperation is driving politicians to rationalizing violence for political gains.

Abu Ibrahim that the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki as well as the Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara and others in the fold of the All Progressives Congress APC that are still masquerading in the party should resign their membership of the party. This call which also implies that they resign their positions as leaders of the various arms of the National Assembly is yet to be complied with by those concerned as at the time of writing this piece Whatever their reasons for still staying put in the party may be, the fact of the matter is that their continued stay in the party has become a sore which must be extricated from the body.  As I watched through the proceedings of the defections on national television, I wept for the country for producing such leaders that lack morality despite all the party has given them politically which they ordin...
