Voting Buhari, invitation to backwardness - Commissioner

The Attorney General of Ekiti State, Barrister Owoseni Ajayi, has said that voting for the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), in next month’s election is a vote for instability and backwardness. Ajayi said that Nigerians should not be carried away by what he described as Buhari’s latest attempt to act as an agent of change “because the former military ruler is insensitive to Nigeria’s diversity.” He said in a statement obtained by Saturday PUNCH that if Buhari is allowed to rule Nigeria, he would draw the country back to where it was 25 years ago, while describing the former military ruler as a religious fanatic. He said, “Nigerians should not forget all his past utterances that are inimical to national progress and stability. “His narrow-mindedness will portend doom for Nigeria. He is only hungry for leadership without knowing what it entails.” Ajayi further said that Nigerians should remember what Buhari said...

Buhari Cant Remember His Phone Number - GEJ

President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday during a rally in Enugu said that the All Progressives Congress candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd), cannot remember his own mobile phone number. Jonathan, whose unscripted address was mostly a response to previous statements made by Buhari, accused the APC presidential candidate of deceiving Nigerians by promising to revive the economy without explaining how he would achieve the feat. The President wondered how Buhari would develop the country’s economy, a feat he could not achieve while he was in office as head of state between 1983 and 1985. “Is it now that Buhari cannot even remember his own phone number that he can change the economy of the country.” Jonathan asked. The Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate said that although he did not like to “go personal during campaigns,” “sometimes circumstances demand that certain things must be said.” Jonathan said that Buhari belonged to the medieval age, adding that he...

Why Jonathan Must Be Supported

The year 2014 promises to be a very interesting year. Just like 2010, this year will witness more than 10,000 politicians vying, scheming and strategizing for political offices. This year will also see lots of people who will end up bruising their noses due to the wrong choice(s) they make. I remember 2010 and how the politics played out. First was the issue of interim President, later the politics after the death of one of Nigeria’s finest leaders, then the issue of what I term one of the greatest political blackmail of our time, Jonathan MUST not contest 2011 elections because the North had not completed their tenure! People like Mallam Adamu Ciroma (I wonder where he is now) and Prof. Ango Abdulahi (a man whom I once thought was a detribalised Nigerian) and a mouthy few cried to high heavens that Jonathan should not be allowed to contest. These regional crusaders even went to the laughable point of organizing a consensus arrangement to choose a candidate that...
